NEWS | Delegation of the Mediterranean Youth Council visits COMECE, meets with EP President Metsola

3 April - During a 2-day official visit to EU institutions, a delegation from the Mediterranean Youth Council engaged in discussions at the Secretariat of COMECE on current and future European challenges, including peace, development, migration and asylum, and youth empowerment. The delegation, led by Mgr. Giuseppe Baturi, General Secretary of the Italian Bishops' Conference (CEI), was warmly welcomed by COMECE President Mgr. Mariano Crociata and the staff members. Additionally, the delegation met with EP President Roberta Metsola and held an event at the European Parliament to highlight its structure, mission, and activities.

The event is organised in the context of the New European Bauhaus Festival 2024 and will showcase a series of innovative projects to make religious heritage sites more sustainable and inclusive by fostering adaptation to climate change challenges, becoming more environmentally-friendly and connecting local communities to these sites to secure their future. 28 March - Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Hector Hajjar visited the Secretariat of COMECE and was welcomed by Adviser José Luis Bazán. They discussed Lebanon's current challenges, including the Syrian refugee situation. COMECE is closely monitoring Lebanon's circumstances and urges the EU to enhance its support, aiming for more comprehensive assistance.

4 April - A delegation from Entrepreneurs et Dirigeants Chrétiens (Les EDC), a member association of UNIAPAC France, visited the Secretariat of COMECE to know more about its mission of dialogue with the EU institutions, especially in the social and economic fields. The group was received by General Secretary Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto and Adviser Alix de Wasseige.
